Speaking about Fátima is undoubtedly speaking about religion and miracles. Fátima is a modern town from the 20th century that received a significant religious connotation due to the famous miracle of the Virgin Mary apparitions in 1917.
Almost at the end of World War I, three Portuguese shepherds witnessed clairvoyance and visions of the Virgin Mary, predicting faith and devotion. Today, the site, named Cova da Iria, is considered the Portuguese Vatican during Easter, where many pilgrims gather here in front of the Sanctuary of Fátima, where the tombs of the shepherd children are located. As a symbol of faith, you must visit the Chapel of the Apparitions where supposedly these visions of the Virgin Mary took place before the children.
Nevertheless, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, in 1989, a fragment of the wall that divided both Eastern and Western Europe can be found in Fátima. Many of these stone pieces were scattered across the world, especially in Fátima, a beacon not only of faith but also of peace.
